Pedro Mauricio is a prominent environmental lawyer with more than twenty years of experience, recognized for his deep knowledge in environmental and climate change law. Prior to joining GLZ Abogados, Pedro was part of the environmental and climate change practice group of two global firms, in addition to having worked in the Ministry of Health and the former Secretariat of Environment, Natural Resources and Fisheries (SEMARNAP).
Pedro Mauricio has excelled in supervising and developing real estate and infrastructure projects, including tourism, industrial, energy and mining projects. He has actively participated in audits, negotiations with authorities and communities, obtaining environmental and health authorizations, as well as in important mergers and acquisitions, ensuring compliance with environmental and real estate aspects in negotiations and in the preparation of transactional documents.
His practice also encompasses environmental, health and safety and hygiene litigation, as well as lobbying services for the private sector and industrial chambers. In addition, he has extensive experience in providing advice related to climate change to both institutions and national and foreign governments, including the preparation of regulatory proposals and the drafting of purchase and sale contracts for the reduction of emissions (ERPAs).
Pedro Mauricio's professional career also includes extensive academic experience both in Mexico and abroad. He is currently completing his doctorate on Environment and Foreign Trade at the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom, and previously completed a Master's degree in Law with an emphasis on Environmental Law at the University of Georgia. In addition, he has obtained diplomas in Environmental Law from the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM), in Energy Law from the Free School of Law, and in Real Estate Law from the same institution.
